I guess I am concerned that I see no posting. Hopefully a few of you will come into the group and tells us what you have been up to. My father passed away so been working on his trust and other tedious tasks. I have been writing a little but a bad case of tendonitis in both of my arms have kinda set up home so I have to be careful. How about any of you?

Hearing the cries of her sons and daughters
Opening her eyes she sees the savage destruction
She is awaken with vengeance
Rising through the fires like a phoenix
Souring up through smoke ashes and fire
Anger arises into a burning rage
Who dares to harm her children?
Who dares to awaken her?
The eagle soars through the sky
Searching for the one responsible
Crying out in rage to the devastations that is below her
Upon her wings revenge she carries
Destruction she voices to those des…

It would be really nice if each of you could give an update on your writing or goals pertaining to writing or any associated genre. If you are having book signings please let us know by posting here. Would love to see what you are doing with a little synopsis of the basics of your book. Thanks, looking forward to hearing about everyone's projects. I am trying to write a few things simultaneously. I get bored if I don't have more than one thing going at the same time. I am being very leisurely ab…

As the tide rolls in the waves crash against the rocks
Watching the fog roll in along the tide
The sun setting in colors of beauty amongst the violent display of the tide
Down the shore the light stands alone just as I sit her among the rocks
Loudly, mourning fully her horn sounds rev…

I guess there is some misunderstanding about this novel and a novel it is and NOT a short story. The book on most printings is 320 pages. It is not a long novel but gauged at this length it is around 80,000 words which makes it clearly a novel and nowhere near being a short story which is max 7,500 words ballpark.
I have been a fan of this story since the sixties when I saw the film with Vincent Price which was the first adaptation.
I Am Legend is a 1954 science fiction/horror novel by Richard…

Did you ever wonder how long your book or short story should be and if it falls in between what your market would be? Below is a tentative list that many publishers go by and where they would be marketable.
First we would start with a page count and generally that would run about 250 words per page. Therefore when you count the pages in your novel, if you had 400 pages it would equal 100,000 words. Check the market in the genre you have chosen and see what length of book is selling and by that…

THE LITTLE GIRL WHO TRIED TO OUTRUN UGLY
Once upon a time, long ago, there was a beautiful maiden. In all of the lands, there was not a woman who lived, more beautiful. So benevolent was this woman, that her kindness stretched to the four corners of the world. Kings, and Queens came to her, to show their gratitude for her simply being alive.
The maiden was called Divinity Mundane, and for all of the beauty that she possessed, she was a woman of common wealth, common possessions, and common wi…

Poem - VAMPIRESS by Wayne Sharrocks
Category: Writing and Poetry
This was penned for the Film Premiere of 'Revival of Darkness' (which had a themed Masquerade Ball) & was read out at midnight, just before the guests unmasked...
A life too cursed for day
She awaits the decadent dark
A cloak of beauty drowns her sighs
This Angel in disguise...
The walls of her heart may crumble
As she feels her dreams unfurl
The conclusion ever nearer
As midnight chimes her goal...
The only time she can r…

'Dominion' is the follow up to 'Redemption', Wayne's debut novel, which was nominated for both The Guardian First Book Award & The McKitterick Prize. It's a tight, tension-building tale that provides both psychological insight as well as a thought provoking read.
SYNOPSIS:
Scarred by childhood trauma and neglect, Karl Connor attempted to flee the dark shadows of his young life, the horrors that he had experienced, and the inner demons that cont…

DOMINION
PROLOGUE
Sat hunched within the dark recess Karl Connor felt as small and vulnerable as a china doll. As what seemed like hours passed he could feel the welts from the cigarette burns rising up on his body, smarting, searing…
His body still hissed from the pain of her nails gouging his young and tender flesh. As dread washed through him, how he longed for a shining light in the great dark loneliness of human existence.
Terror began with the fact that he could hardly move. His mind w…

Debut Novel: Redemption by Wayne Sharrocks (extract).
Category: Writing and Poetry
REDEMPTION
Extract:
Reluctantly and nervously I stepped inside the bunker as the gangs heckling stung my ears. Their hands pushed and shoved at my back, as I glanced around, urging me to descend the wrought iron staircase. They saw the terror in my eyes and drank it in, but by now their deferential manner and their mocking tones and words were barely penetrating my reverie as my mind had closed in around me.…

My name is J. Edward Nolan, former service in the United States Navy. Published author of "Coven", and "Bane". I've spent most of my life, military, and civilian avoiding political forums. I avoid the conversations of who I vote for, and what propositions. My Granddaddy always said that three things that keep a conversation civil are the absence of discussion in politics, religion, and abortion. My opinions in these three are always my own, and rarely shared with anyone, whether they ask... or n…
